Sign Me Up

"The Freedom Fest Mini-Triathlon consists of a 300 yd lake swim, 12 mile bike ride and 2 mile run/walk and is not a competetive event. It is used for fun and exercise. Bikers must have a helmet and swimmers may use a flotation device, if desired."

Low key, no? A perfect little practice triathlon for before Chisago Lakes next month. So I dropped off my $15 check and I'm off to find my flotation device. Well, I guess I should probably try to swim without the arm floaties . . .

What I really love about this triathlon (aside from the ultra cheap registration and the convenient location 6 miles from my front door) is the waiver. I almost peed my pants reading it. I'd quote it here, but I'm sure it's not really that funny to anyone but my nerd brain. I think it is even funnier because I know the spandex, headband wearing pain in the ass lawyer who drafted it.

Have a great weekend!

Sounds like a great little event to get your feet wet, so to speak.

What a perfect race. I even looked it up to see if it was anywhere within my range, but no such luck! Have fun.

OMG, I want a flotation device for my tri!!! Too funny, and now I'm really curious about that waiver.

holy cow! that sounds like a tri I'd be willing to try! maybe next year me and my swim noodle will come up and join you. ;)

That's the only way I could do the swim in a tri, with arm floaties. LOL! I think all waivers for outdoor activities are useless since they don't stop anyone from the activity or from suing. Have fun at the Freedom Fest!

That is a great mini-triathlon!! Thanks for your comment on my blog, you should try the push up challenge, I was not able to do any push ups on toes and was able to do 5 on my knees. But it is amazing how quick you improve. Give it a try! :)

I would maybe, maybe, actually sign up for a tri if I could wear "water wings"!

Can the floatie...I mean flotation device be attached to something with a motor? If so I am in!
Have fun with it!

I signed a waiver for a mud run once that ended with "you might die" and I was like uh...chances???

I've done a little tri like this and loved it! It was the perfect chance to practice transitions and work on all kinds of things. Enjoy!

It sounds like my ideal race, except the 12 mile bike, take that out and I'm in!
