I finished off week eight of my training for the Madison Marathon - eight weeks to go! It felt good to turn to the second page of my training schedule. Last week was another pretty solid week:
Monday: 3 miles easy (no tempo run this week - I figured my 8K race on Sunday was tempo enough).
Tuesday: 1 hr kettlebells
Wednesday: 800 m. swim, 5 miles speedwork
Saturday: 18 miles
Sunday: 30 min yoga
My long run was tough this week. I tried to outsmart the gale force winds by doing a 3.6 mile loop, 7.4 mile loop, the 3.6 again, and then a 3 mile out and back. It didn't work. The wind smacked me around. But it could be windy on race day. And now I'll be ready. Have a great week!

Great week! You are going strong. Winds are really tough...but perfect in training...now you'll be ready for anything.
Wind is no fun, but it will definitely make us stronger. And you're right, race day could be windy. Awesome job completing the first half of your training!
Great job! I think I would rather run in rain than wind! I don't know what it is about wind, but it is so annoying!
Saturday was windy and nasty, congrats on finishing the 18 miler!!
My plan called for 15 last Saturday, so I am a little behind you.
Awesome week!!! You are really cruising right along! I can't even imagine 18 miles. :)
Bonus points for th wind run...and Nice Swim with a run on the same day...good work
I SO get the thing about the wind. I ran in it this weekend and it kicked my butt. I just kept telling myself (as I could barely maintain a 10 min/mile running into the wind) that this was making me stronger. Congrats on making it half way in your trianing!!!
Half way home, girl!! Nice job on the 18, that's always a toughie!
The wind never seems to be in a runners favor!! Your training is going well...comgrats you are halfway there!!
Hi Heather,
Wow, you are halfway through your marathon training!! Nice work on your 18 miler:)
Great job on sticking out a tough 18 miler!
If it's windy the day of my marathon, I think I'll have a DNS. :p Great job on your runs, halfway there!! Whoo!!
I really hate wind...but, you're right, we need to be ready for all kinds of weather! Great job with the run!
Great job getting in the 18 miles, despite the wind! I hate it, but it's at least good training.
Awesome week. Keep up the good work.
That's what I always say when the weather is lousy ... it could be like this on race day, and now I'll be prepared!
I seen the word "kettlebells" on your workout and got all excited! Not to often do I see that so it makes me happy to see fellow swingers out there!
Look forward to "getting to know you" through your blog!
