All Kinds of Crazy

All the crazies have been coming out of the woodwork around here this week. I would swear it was a full moon. Every time I turn around, someone else is there waiting to say something crazy or touch my hair and ask me if I cry myself to sleep at night. (Seriously happened, in the courthouse.)

I've been a little crazy myself. And not just with fears of all the contagious diseases I might contract from the creepos grabbing onto my hair. I've got my own little version of taper madness going on. It's a broken record of:
  • 26 miles is too far for you to run. You're never going to make it.
  • You think you're going to PR? Ha! Try PW.
  • My leg hurts. Oh my gosh, I think I have a fever. Ow, what is wrong with my foot.
  • Calm the hell down. You're going to run the marathon and you're going to do the best you can. Get over yourself.

Thankfully eating banana chocolate chip muffins shuts the crazy lady in my head up for a little while. I wonder what gaining five pounds between now and next Sunday will do for my race experience? Uh oh . . . now I've got to add the "I'm going to be too fat to run a marathon" to my litany of self-doubt.

Sometimes it's good to be a little crazy. You're gonna do great.

Remember: taper weight gain is all glycogen. Helpful, lovely stored glycogen. [I am virtually stroking your hair as I say this. Hehe!]

Oh yeah, I remember all those thoughts. How about this - I met my best friend 2 nights before my marathon and got HAMMERED on about 5 martinis. Puked the entire next day - what a disaster. But i managed a PR, so maybe it was good. ha ha.

I would freak if someone started touching my hair!

Just imagine those personal-space-invaders behind you during your race. You'll do great ;)

Hi Heather,

You've done the training so I'm sure you'll do GREAT!

Now go have an ice cream chaser for your Banana Chocolate Chip Muffin and you'll feel all better:-)

In fact I would be scarfing down Muffins at regular intervals between now and the finishline of the marathon. Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins are way better than gu's, gels and blocks...but that is just me.

taper madness!

I remember running or trying to run 3 miles a few days before my first marathon, I could barely do it. Panick.

Then you get to the start line and you know you can do it.

You are going to do great!

LOL gotta love the crazies.

Before any race, I always tell myself, "it's just a race...win or lose, fast or slow, the sun will come up and I will wake up tomorrow (probably at 6am with Shortie2 poking my ribcage and saying, Mommy wake uppppp, it's morrrrrning, you get me some milky please?) and I will keep running until the next one.

Muffins sound like a great idea; and you will do great, despite what the crazies say!!

You can do it! I have been amazed reading all about your training. I hope to run a marathon one day too...my goal for this year is a half. :)

P.S. Chocolate makes everything better. My 2-year-old even told me that just yesterday. :)
