Daisy Downer

I'm looking for my running mojo. Has anyone seen it? It's average height, blond (smoking hot, of course), and oh, smoking fast. It up and took off and in its place left a drab, slow, blob-girl counting down the dwindling final days of her twenties. (That's right, my big 3-0 is only two weeks away. Candy and running shoes are acceptable birthday gifts.)

I ran a 5K on Saturday and it was just blah. I can't figure out what the problem is - I know I can run faster, but the last couple of races, I just haven't cared that much. I think some apathy I've been feeling in other areas of my life (hello, work) is dripping over into running. Which really pisses me off. So I've got to chase it away somehow. Just haven't quite figured that out . . .

On a more positive note, I am leaving for vacation on Saturday. A week at the cabin with the family. My husband sent a list of all the things we need to bring (boat, fishing stuff, etc.). I responded with: "Don't forget, I want to bring my kayak, my bike, the jogging stroller, and Sophie's little car." His response: "We're going to have to rent a semi."

Hope you find that mojo soon! It sucks when the work blahs start affecting your everyday mood. Ugh!

Sounds like you guys are going to have a great week. Good luck packing!

When my running turns blah I have to shake it up -- maybe do speed if I haven't been doing that, or take a few days off and just cross train. Doing something different usually works for me!

Maybe you will get the MoJo back on your vacation. Sounds like you have been too busy and this is the break that you need. Have fun week at the cabin!

LOL with all of the stuff you want to bring. We have had to take 2 vehicles places because of all the kid stuff.

"Candy" as in the bimbo from the local club or "Candy" as in chocolate?

Perhaps finding an official race buddy or unofficial race buddy to pace you woudl be helpful. I know I run much faster at shorter distances when I'm not alone.

Have fun this weekend!

I think your vacation will help with the missing mojo - sometimes you just need a break!

I hate when I lose my running mojo. A vacation might be just the thing. Take a break from running while you are away, maybe it will be a home waiting for you when you get back.

It sucks to lose the mojo, but at those times I remember that running is not always meant to be fun or feel the best. It seems to go in phases. If I stop expecting to really like it all the time I find I like it more. Reverse psychology, I don't know...just what works for me.

Have a GREAT vacation!!
And maybe moving up an age group will rejuvenate your mojo. You'll soon be competing against the F30 - 34 group. Somehow I think they're faster than those young whippersnappers in the F25 - 29, but I bet you'll love the challenge.

I think your mojo and my mojo are off having fun somewhere...

Hopefully your vacation will send yours back to you.

I bet after your vacation you will be ready to rock the running. Take it easy enjoy life and just run because you can. On vacation if you run just enjoy them and dont' worry about time or distance.

Ew, sorry about the missing mojo; the mojo thief visited me a couple weeks back (weekly mileage: 14; weekly training plan mileage required: 32=FAIL). I found that giving in and taking those rest extra (extra) days was sort of cathartic and voila! the mojo fairly appeared and with a wink of his wand (cause the idea of a male mojo fairy makes me smile more) restored my pile of mojo goo back to my belly where it belonged! Happy ending, all around!

The moral of the story: don't sweat it...give yourself a tiny break and then get back to it.
