After a nice long weekend (yay for Monday holidays), I have managed to get up two mornings in a row for an early morning run before work. It has been a battle both mornings. This morning especially. My bed was so warm and cozy and my muscles were so, so sore from kettlebells last night. The fight went something like this:
Me: "I don't want to get up. I'm tired."
Also me: "Get your ass out of bed, you will feel better once you start running."
Me: "But it's cold out."
Also me: "It's not that cold. Shut up and get out of bed."
Me: "I'll run later."
Also me: "Yes, you will run later. And you will also run right now. So get up."
You get the gist. The added bonus to getting up early to run is having time for my favorite breakfast - oatmeal with blueberries and brown sugar. Delicious! Now I am energized and well fueled for my full day of traffic court.

Very impressive. I alway am in awe of you morning runners - I just can't do it! I get to work really early, too - way too early for a morning run (at least that's what I tell myself)
LOL, I love the "me"/"also me" commentary. Kudos for getting up early twice in a row! I bow down to you!
I love AM workouts and find that I actually have an easier time getting up early for them, then on just work mornings. Probably because I like to workout and do not so much like working! :)
Tough battle and it is great that you won two days in a row. I always figure it is easier to get my workouts in first thing, so sometimes I guilt myself into getting out of bed. Glad it worked out for you!
Nice job. The oatmeal sounds great. Hope traffic court went well today.
That pillow is going "down"!
Hi Heather, I recently started reading your blog. Way to go on the morning workouts! We have the same favorite breakfast, except I use honey instead of brown sugar. Delicious :)
Very funny! I often have to talk myself into a run also. I'm glad you listened to yourself and got out there.
Good for you. I used to be a morning exerciser but it's not for me. I sort of do the opposite, I won't let myself go to bed without a planned workout. Some days my workout doesn't start until 10PM, but I do it. I sleep really well after exercise at night. Guess I'm kinda odd that way. :)
ha ha
me: "I don't want to get up. I'm tired."
... then I hit snooze
end of discussion
Very impressive. I barely manage to get up in time to get the kids to school, much less run LOL.
MCM Mama
You are so good! I just can't get my butt out of bed to workout in the morning.
Oatmeal sounds good to me, but I never eat it. Hmmm, wonder why not?
Nice job getting up!
I've had the same conversation many times--but I usually only win in the summer. If the weather is going to be better later in the day, I just sleep on in.
Just found your blog and am loving it so far.
Kudos to "also me" for winning that fight!
Nice work getting out of bed. I am familiar with that internal conversation. Breakfast sounds yummy!
You are a far better woman than me. There is nothing worse than waking up when it's dark AND cold. Yuck. Kudos to you for being such a rockstar though.
You go, girl! Now that I work from home, I have the luxury of waking up a little later for my runs...and I can't seem to be able to wake up before 7! But the early morning run is so worth it.
