Bye Pretty Shoes

I've reached that point in my training where it is flats from here on out. This morning I put on a pair of heels before I left for court. And almost fell on the floor. Apparently half marathon on Saturday, tough track workout Monday, and run Tuesday morning = can't walk in heels. I pushed through and wore the shoes to court and back. And when I took them off, my calves were tight. So all the heels are pushed to the back of my office closet until after the marathon. Luckily I bought a super cute pair of black flats, so this won't happen again. Hopefully.

Anyhow . . . figured I better post my training from last week before this week gets too far underway. It wasn't the greatest week, but I'm happy with the time and effort I put in given that I was sick and dealing with a sick kiddo all week.

Monday: Unintentional rest day.
Tuesday: 1 hour kettlebells (ran 1 mile for warm up)
Wednesday: 4 miles (felt like death)
Thursday: 10 mile bike
Friday: 1000 m. swim (I made it into the 1000's!)
Saturday: 1/2 marathon
Sunday: walking & carried a toddler all over the MN Zoo - surely that counts for something!

I'm gearing up for my longest long run this weekend - 22 miles. So far the weather peeps are calling for rain. It could be a rough run!

Heels are the devil. I wore them one day last week and I swear I can still feel their lingering pain....could be the LR but I'm blaming the heels. Just throw an away. ;)

Good luck on the 22 this weekend. That just seems...scary.

I am completely in loves with ballet flats. They look adorable and are comfortable. Hope you have a great run this weekend!

I have been having the same problem! I love wearing heels, but can't during the training process, which means that I can't wear the pants that I refuse to get tailored. So, I'm left with wearing flats and the two pairs of pants that aren't obnoxiously long.

Hi Heather,
I had to smile and your heel story:) Monday I went to work in heels too.....I had a hard time walking...just a little sore in the toes. I wore those new shoes on Saturday and my toes were feeling it:) Nice work on all of your crazy workouts!! You are going to do so great at your upcoming Tri!!

Good call on the flats! I don't know how you wear heels period.

I often take a second pair of "comfy" shoes with me to work to wear while I'm just sitting in my office. It helps give the footsies a rest.

That zoo walk was probably worse than the 1/2 marathon!

I'm so very thankful I don't have a job that requires me to wear heels of any type. I'd need special training in them just to stay upright.

Congratulations on your HM PR!! I know it's not the sub-2 you wanted, but you'll get there!

Heels are bad! They are way cute, but very, very bad! I'd say that's a pretty good training week and impressive that you got that done given you were sick and caring for a sick child. Good luck with your long run this weekend!

I can't wear heels anymore :( I miss 'em, but ballet flats are more kind to my feet.

Good luck on your 22 miler! I have one scheduled for this weekend as well.

That looks like a pretty good training week to me!:)
I only crack out heels for weddings and such--so almost never. You should see my post-Boston feet--ouch!
Good luck with your 22!

I'm totally cautious with heels now...funny how running affects all areas of our life :)
Good luck with the 22 miles (that's a lot of miles!) hope the weather cooperates.

Yeah 22 miles in the rain would suck. Hope if it dose rain it's one of those gentle and refreshing drizzles. Good luck!
