Tempo Track Sweatfest

I decided to do tonight's tempo run at the high school track because the weather peeps were predicted storms. I figured if a storm came through, I'd rather stay nice and close to my car.

This first tempo run on the schedule was pretty easy - 2 easy miles, 2 miles at "short tempo" pace, and 2 miles cooldown. Thankfully the wind decided to throw down a challenge (just what I needed) by blasting me in the face. Add to the wind the 90 degree temp and hot, hot sun and it was quite the run.

It started to cloud over as I finihed the run. Now I'm home listening the thunder and rain. I'm hoping once this storm goes through our weather will clear up: I've got a swim and bike planned for tomorrow, a golf event tomorrow afternoon, my first open water swim Saturday morning (followed by a bike and run for my own little mini practice triathlon) AND my first long run of this training cycle Sunday. Should be a fun weekend. Good luck to everyone racing this weekend - can't wait to read all the race reports!

That's a heckuva weekend you have planned, I'm a little tired just reading about it! Hope your first OWS goes well, and your mini-tri. That's on my schedule for next weekend. :-)

Duh! I've cancelled a few runs in the past couple of weeks because of predicted thunder storms. I LOVE your solution. I'm a treadmill hater, but I can run loops at the HS track. Thanks! It sounds like a busy weekend for you. Take care.

Nice work on your track workout Heather! You were smart to get it in before the storms:) It was so freaking hot and windy today...way to tough out the elements!

Good luck on the mini tri! Can't wait to hear how it goes. Wasn't that some crazy weather tonight? I heard of at least one tornado touching down!

Good call syaing close to the car! Even if it didn't storm, it sounds like you had some brutal weather for your run - maybe the thunderstorm would have been better. :p

Have a great weekend!

Girl, I give you credit. I struggle with even 800s on the track - I can't imagine a tempo run on that circle of hell.

Sounds like a fun weekend planned!
