Training Time

A quick recap of my last "off" week:

Monday: 3 miles easy (am), 4.5 miles w/2x400, 2x800, 2x400 (pm)
Tuesday: 3.6 miles easy, 30 min yoga
Wednesday: 1100 m. swim
Thursday: 3.1 miles easy
Friday: 1000 m. swim, Jillian's No More Trouble Zones DVD
Saturday: 22 mile bike w/1 mile run
Sunday: Jillian's 30 Day Shred (level 2)

Now, tomorrow, training for Twin Cities starts. I'm using the FIRST program for the third time. My main goal for this training cycle? Do everything better. Easy enough, right? I want to push myself through the track workouts, nail the tempo runs, and be strong on the long runs.

Your job? Yes, you have a job. Don't let me be a summer slacker. If I start posting things like "I skipped the long run today to float around on the pontoon and drink beer" reach through the interwebs and slap me. Don't get me wrong, pontoon floating and beer drinking have their place, it' just AFTER the weekend long run is done.

Yay! The start of a marathon training cycle feels purposeful, doesn't it? Good luck and I'm sure you will nail all your workouts.

My training for chicago starts tomorrow also...I'll keep you honest if you keep an eye on me as well ;)

My biggest concern right now is somehow managing speedwork with no track access and no garmin...gonna have to figure that one out pretty quick.

I'll be doing FIRST for the second time starting in July. I know I definitely didn't hit the long run paces last time around, so I gotta fix that.

Better yet, I'll smack you upside the head with a kb if you decide to slack off for the summer!
How's that?!!

Yippee for training!! I propose we work for each other! I'll follow your progress and reach thru the intertubes as necessary, if you'll do the same for me. Let's see how it goes!! Have a great week 1!

I will keep you accountable if you keep me accountable : )

Of course, there is always time for beer and the pontoon!

I like your goals. I'll be watching (and admiring) as I try to run more regularly over the summer.

Ha! Now that you've put it out there, you won't be able to slack. Good luck!

Cheers to Twin Cities marathon training! I will keep you in check but you have to keep me in line too:)

You will keep me in line too with TCM training. I am always the first to let a long run slide when I see a pool and a Summer Shandy.

Sounds like you have a good plan...I'll keep my eye on you. ;)

Okay, you asked for it. I will send you a b*tchslap as needed. :P

I'm been having pep talks with myself about staying focused on training this summer. Not just the weather, but with so many parties and weekend trips it can be SO hard to manage the long runs. Gahhhh.... I am a better winter runner.

Yayy! So glad you have a new one to look forward to! I need you to help me, too! With the hot weather, I want nothing to do with LONG runs! LOL!
Good luck this week!

Our minds are totaly synced. I see no problem w/sitting at the swim up bar of our waterpark sat. and sun. as long as I've gotten my long run in Sat. morning. Plus it feels better as a reward....and the benefits of the long run are also nice when spending the day in a swim suit. ;)

Phew, glad to hear you're not cancelling the pontoon floating and beer drinking!

If you post that you are skipping your long run to float on the lake...I am going to jump through the internet and join you! I'm a good one to have around for motivation!
