Excuse Me, I'm Tapering

Wednesday is traffic court date in my world. Not because I get so many tickets that I have to go to traffic court every week, but because I prosecute for some of our local cities and it's my job. Before afternoon court, all the prosecutees line up and wait to talk so we can try to resolve their cases. Anyhow, today I was dealing with one defendant and the next person in line kept hovering. As in two inches from my face. I snapped at him, "Could you back up and wait your turn?" His response? "Why do you have to be so mean?"

I figured I had three possible responses:
1) "Why do you have be so stupid?"

2) "I don't mean to be mean, but I'm running a marathon on Sunday, which means I've basically been doing jack-shit nothing for exercise for a week or so and I'm all twitchy and about to lose my mind."

3) Silence.

I chose silence. Probably the right choice.

Other behavioral lapses I'm blaming on tapering: giving my ice pack more loving than I've been giving my husband, and eating everything in sight. What? I have to feed my tape(r) worm.

Tapering or not, I have NO patience for people who hover. Especially in line at the grocery store. When someone 'nudges' me with their cart or I can hear them breathing in my hear, I turn into The Hulk.

Never thought of the taperworm connection, like that idea. I'm terrible about people violating my space.

OK, I don't mean to be out of line and I totally get where you are coming from, but shouldn't there be a pill we can take right around that time of training!

GAH i agree with Marlene, personal space is one of my biggest pet peeves ever and if you invade it... not good.

Oooh me no likey the close talkers! My taperworm is voracious as well. Hello two pans of brownies.
Wow your race is Sunday!!!!

Next time option 1
B/C that is what will feed your Taper and make you okay

option 3 only builds the anxiety level more and creates the risk of leying it on husband

lesson learned
next time "get on your broom" and lash out

ROFL! Sorry, but I don't know how you do it! If you read my race report from Sunday, I probably would have chosen option 1!

Good luck on Sunday if you don't post before then! You're going to do awesome - I just know it! You are a rockstar in my book girlie!!!
Run fast, run strong and enjoy it!

Ha, ha! I'm totally stealing that taperworm idea, that's hilarious! You're a strong woman keeping silent in the face of taper tantrums and hovering ignoramuses. You are so gonna rock your race!!
