Bring It On

My overall goal for 2010 is to get fitter and faster. Easy peasy, right? To be more specific, I plan to:
  • Participate in one race (or event) every month.
  • Run a sub-2:00 half marathon.
  • Continue getting 350 minutes per week of exercise. I started this in September (and maybe fell off a little bit in December), and find that it really helps me get in the cross training.
  • Run at least one marathon. Probably two. Possibly three.
  • Be more consistent with healthy eating. I tend to do good for a couple of weeks, and then fall off the wagon.

I have a couple non-fitness related goals too: spend less money (tough since I love my retail therapy) and read at least 50 books (I read 47 in '09 - so close!).

I went out for my first run of 2010 last night after work and it was pretty damn cold. I was happy that I had the guts to get out there and that I managed to avoid slipping and falling during the entire run. Not an easy task.

LOVE your goals! I need to watch what I am eating again...I am in full training mode and always give myself the excuse, "but you're running all those miles!" - it doesn't work that way :)
3 marathons! I like that too! Happy New Year girly!

Heather,
I love the idea of getting fitter and faster:) I am with you on that one! Also, good job getting on a run last night...and staying on your feet:) I think this running in the snowy and icy stuff will make us stronger come spring:)

50 books is a great goal! Anything you loved of your 47 in 2009? I'm always on the lookout for new reads!

Great goals...I didn't realize it until I wrote up my schedule for 2010 but I have an event (or more) every month and that excites me!

I say all of those goals are awesome, except the whole not shopping part. That one sucks. LOL! I would not make it a month. I need the retail therapy myself.

Retail therapy is where it is at, especially when you combine it with running or triathlon. Good luck with your goals!

Fabulous goals--some are similar to mine and so it will be a fun year in which we will accomplish them!

Running + retail therapy = happiness

I'd love a sub 2:00 HM too, not sure I'll work on that this year though...

A race a month is a great goal....and your others are, too! A very Happy New Year to you - you're going to do so great!!! Which marathons are you doing? Maybe we'll run into one another along the road somewhere - be fun! Happy New Year!

You are a stronger woman than I! I haven't ran outside since before my half mid-December. Gym bound for me. You can totally break 2 in the HM! Which marathons are you thinking of?

And to answer your question: I had always planned to move to the cities after I graduated, but just never left, now I'm really itching to leave, so I might become a minnesota girl, who knows!
